Woot!

Hey all, sorry I haven’t been posting here as much! I’ve been doing the majority of my blog posting straight to the Young & Free Texas site, so head over there to see a weeks worth of awesome stuff!

www.youngfreetexas.com

Remember, if you haven’t voted, you have until Friday to do so!

The Young&Free Team issued each of the finalists a challenge – Hit the streets and find out what young people want from their financial institutions. So I did!

Special thanks to everyone who was interviewed for this video, KC, Kevin, Aaron and Caroline! You rock!

Vote! And, other stuff!

Friends.

I just saw Baylor Theatre’s poduction of Urinetown.

Yall.

Probably the best live show I’ve seen almost ever. And I’m not just saying that because I know all the cast, and bestie 1.0 was in the chorus. It was the bomb dot com yall. On the reazzy. Other cliche phrases.

Beyonce has two new videos out today. “If I Were A Boy” and “Single Ladies.” Two radically different songs. Completely different. But pretty good. Any song that has a chorus of “If ya liked it then ya shoulda put a ring on it” has my vote. I actually didn’t like “If I Were A Boy” until I saw the music video. Now its my jam.

Oh yeah, did I mention to vote!?!?! I put up a new video urging people to get their vote on. Don’t you want to be in the count?

Now vote! http://www.youngfreetexas.com/vote-for-deandre

Oh. My. Gah.

Yall, this economic crisis is getting down right depressing!

From The Consumerist.

If you’re a fan of those pink and white frosted Circus Animal cookies from Mother’s, either stock up or start priming your nostalgia, because this week the company closed its doors abruptly. They’ve cited the expected reasons—the rising cost of raw materials, and an inability to borrow in the frozen credit market.

Whats next!?!?! Capri Suns? Little DEBBIES!?!?!?!

Save money before you’re 30, so when you are 30 you don’t have to save..as much.

While reading The Consumerist today, I found this great article from MSN.com about saving monayyy.

Some highlights -

1. Stop with the credit cards already! MSNMoney says that the average credit card debt among 25- to 34-year-olds was $5,200 in 2004. You should be saving in your 20s, not spending.

2. Plan for home ownership. Save for a down payment, then buy what you can afford — not what you love.

3. Have skills. “Everyone’s really self-employed. If you work for a company, you just have one client,” says Gregg Fisher, 35, founder of Gerstein Fisher, a New York financial-planning firm.. “If they fire you, you’re out of business.”

4. Give to charity. If you buy things to make yourself feel good, why not donate some money to charity instead. Won’t that make you feel good?

5. Know thyself. “Having a firm grasp on your priorities and values is one critical component of a healthy financial life.”

6. Know smart people. “Knowing a good tax preparer, financial adviser, attorney and insurance agent can save you untold amounts of money and stress.”

More videos!

As you all know (because I talk about it constantly), I am in Baylor’s Improv Comedy Troupe, and we had a show recently. Since I got into the troupe I’ve been pushing for us to film our performances and put them online.

So!

I have edited our show down to separate segments and posted them on youtube! But, you don’t have to go to youtube to see them, because I’m posting them here! w00t lol zomg rofl!

Beastie Rap, myself vs Graham.  The operative word is “Hat.” I bowed out quite early, due to the fact that I an out of rhyming words. If you go to youtube and watch this, you can see it in high quality (which I would reccomend, because it looks much better).

Half Life. Basically, team one does a scene, and then team two does that scene in half of the time. Its pretty self-explanatory.

Line Game. Before the show, the audience wrote random lines on sheets of paper. Now we get to use them in our scene! Woot!

I’ll be putting up more videos as I finish editing them, so be on the lookout! You can also check out our channel page at http://www.youtube.com/user/GuerrillaTroupe. Fun times!

Last Day!

Friendles!
In Texas, today is our last day to register to vote! You know you want to!

If you’re a college student, there should be someone on your campus who is trying to get people registered. Look around your local student union or find your party affiliate on campus, i.e. Young Republicans or College Democrats. Even if you don’t identify with that political party, they’ll be happy to help you get registered.

Do it! And watch the debate tomorrow!

Oooooh-Weee

Hello all, in between watching Ugly Betty and The VP Debate (tonight, WATCH!) and trying to study for a Law and Ethics test.

But I wanted to post something! So I am!

I dabble in graphic design every now and again, and get inspiration from a variety of places. Here is some of my work!

This was a flyer I made for the first Guerrilla Troupe Show. As you can see, our mascot is a Gorrilla, and I find it really fun to try and put him in different locales based on his attire.

This is a shirt I’m working on for our choir, Heavenly Voices. I adapted it from a different work, and customized it to fit our choir better.

Common Grounds is sort of an artsy place where Indie-type indivduals hang out, so I gave the gorilla (who actually has a name – Mr. Tinky) a coffee cup, a tie, and a trendy hat. This one is almost done, but by no means complete. Maybe some texturing on the background?

Anywhoo, thats whats going on with me right now. Up next! The Debate! Make sure you watch it!

Oh, and the deadline for registering to vote is October 5th! (I think). REGISTER!
